Equipment Rental
in Brazil

Building detailed and accurate equipment lists is one of our strengths at Aura Filmes, and we are sticklers in asking our clients as many questions as we feel is necessary to ensure that you have the list that will facilitate you getting the job done.

Build it. Test it.

The process of renting, testing and transporting gear is very specific here in Brazil. Normal practise is for every major item to be built and tested by production crew before it leaves the rental house - even for small rentals - so there’s often an element of crew time to budget in here also.

For more complex camera, lighting or grip lists it may be necessary to already work with a local focus puller or gaffer at the moment of quoting to compile that list in a way that works for the rental houses here.

Detailed gear lists.

Working with an accurate kit list from the moment of the first quotation you receive from us is one of the best ways to ensure there’s no unwelcome cost surprises further down the line.

Sao Paulo. Rio.
+ All major cities.

Sao Paulo has a large number of camera and lighting rental houses, with much of the same gear available that international crews are used to hiring at home. Rio de Janeiro has less availability of gear, but still a good amount of options.

Outside of Sao Paulo and Rio, gear rental is much more limited. Brasilia, Curitiba, Belém and Florianopolis have rental options, although much reduced compared to the two largest cities.

Depending on the logistics of your shoot we often recommend renting in Sao Paulo or Rio and travelling with the gear to your location.

Arri. Sony. Canon.
Aputure & more.

Whilst Arri, RED and Sony equipment has been widely available in Brazil for many years, there is now a growing availability of some of the newer brands of camera and lighting gear, such as Aputure, Amaran and Godox. We don’t have the same stock of cinema lenses in Brazil as you will find in the USA or UK, but slowly but surely Sao Paulo is getting there.

Some clients still choose to bring in part or all of their shooting package with them from their home country. For details on this process see our page on importing equipment into Brazil.

We are committed to making the process as pain-free as possible, whether your project is a small-scale branded content shoot, or a large-scale studio production. Get in touch to discuss your needs.
